President’s Day. National holiday and the banks and courthouse is closed. Schools too. When you think of president’s what comes to mind? I mostly think of revolutionaries. I think that if things went differently, our early presidents would have been executed for treason. Makes us all respect those who have risked alot for what they believe in.
I also think of the military. Regardless of whether you support all of our actions in all of the parts of the world, you have to respect those who fight to maintain our freedoms. I have a healthy respect for the military. I served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in the infantry. Infantry. What was I thinking? Well, I didn’t know any better, and my dad, who served in the Army Airborne division, wasn’t about to clue me in. Figures, a guy who jumped out of perfectly good flying planes – I should have known better. That is another story for another day.
So take at least a few minutes and reflect on how those who lead our country risked it all for what they believe.
